Evolving the Language - History of RPG IV Part 5

At the end of the previous episode of this saga on the history of RPG IV, I mentioned that in this blog entry I would explain why the No. 1 outstanding user request (parameters for subroutines) was never implemented. So here's the story as best I remember it.

Excel and RPG: Sometimes Things Just Don't Add Up!

From Skunkworks to Project - History of RPG IV Part 2

We left the first part of Jon's saga “The Birth of a New RPG” with the realization that perhaps the SAA RPG compiler that had been developed for OS/2 and mainframes could become the foundation for a new ILE compiler for the (then) AS/400. The story continues. …

    3 RDi Gotchas

Readers of our blog know that we're both users and big fans of RDi. Every now and then, we're surprised by something about our favorite development tool. Sometimes they are good surprises, sometimes not so good and sometimes just baffling. This week we thought we'd fill readers in on some of the surprises we've run into recently in hopes it may help keep some others from being similarly confused. We have itmes in all three categories to talk about.
